A Reminder We’re Still Apart…

As you all know, its been an odd kind of year… and today, I had yet another reminder that we are still not together doing the thing we love…

Now many of you may not know, but Ive been snorkelling since 1987… Yes, Im THAT old…

But the weird thing about having every Tuesday evening busy, is that since 1987, I’ve never celebrated Pancake Day! I’ve always been rushing around, getting ready to get to the pool, either getting in from school or work, rushing my dinner, loading my kit in the car and so on… There was just never time for that delicious fluffy treat…

So today, was a weird one for me. I actually got to have pancakes with my family… A first for me in over 34 years! WOW! Have I really been snorkelling that long! God, now I feel old!

Now my girls are 4 years and 9 months respectively, both are keen pancakers… (It’s not uncommon as a weekend treat), but never have we celebrated the “Official” Pancake Day before. So it was quite a treat to be able to chow down with my family to a few rounds of pancakes…

Whether I’ll be able to do the same next year, who knows (I kinda hope not in some way), but for the time being, I went with it, and enjoyed the moment…

The bitter sweet (get that, lemon and sugar) part of the whole thing, was that it reminded me that I could only do this, because the club is still closed due to this awful disease…

I miss my regular Tuesday evening antics, I worry we are missing out. I worry that I’ll have no students left when this is all over, and what will happen to our wonderful group after so much time apart….

BUT, I trust that our club WILL bounce back. We will be together again, and I WILL get to avoid pancake day for another 34 years or more…

We may be apart, and things may be different, but we will always be one club, one group of people, with a common goal and interest, and I look forward to when we can all be back together again soon…

So how do you eat your’s???
