KEJSC Goes to Parliament

On Monday 13th May 2019, Nick Stevens and Adam Curtis attended a Reception at the Houses of Parliament, held by Aviva Insurance.

As you are aware, Aviva recently gave us a grant to purchase our new club safety boat.

Milly, our new Club Safety Boat

We were the winners of the Judges Choice Award, which is given to the most innovative and interesting bid; and was not actually the award we had applied for. Despite this we are eternally grateful.

Aviva invited us and few other winners to show our projects off to the senior members of Aviva management, and to members of the government and from the House of Lords.

Nick talks with other winners about their projects

We had the opportunity to speak with the other winners about their projects, many of which were focussed on youth development like our own, and ecologial projects, also in line with our aims and views. It was a real pleasure to see how much good was being done with the grants issued by Aviva.

Dominic Rabb MP Congraulates KEJSC on their Award

MP Dominic Rabb, who is MP for Esher & Walton, and therefore our clubs MP, attended especially to come and visit our stand, taking a break from his busy schedule. He was keen to see what we had done for the club with the grant, and was pleased to see the positive effect we would be making in his area. He added that he had two children who would love to learn to snorkel when they were old enough. So we made sure he was given our contat details to sign up when they were ready…

Adam & Nick Promote Snorkelling at Parliament

It was an excellent evening, and we met many interesting and influential people. We made best use of the opportunity to show off snorkelling to many who had never considered it as a sport, and to chat to those who already dived and wanted to know more.

An Excellent evening
